Causes, prevention and humane, up-to-date treatment Real-life research by Al Smith and Faith Warn
Androgen management - the future for prostate cancer?
Men usually get prostate problems and cancer as they age and their testosterone levels fall. At the same time, toxins absorbed by the male body in our industrialised world are creating raised oestrogen levels, causing the natural balance of hormones to become skewed. This may be the reason for an increase in PCa incidence in younger men.
As well as being the masculinising hormone, testosterone is crucial to strength of bones and muscles and health of heart and brain.
Hormone drugs and castration surgery for prostate cancer are based on the 1941 theory that testosterone is the bogeyman and only castrate levels of testosterone can shrink prostate cancer cells.
Many more recent studies show that the true role of testosterone and other androgens is much more complex - and yet these studies have been largely ignored.
Could humane and effective treatment of the future be based on this enlightened yet buried research?
It suggests that:
All men should have a complete hormone profile test as they age and especially on diagnosis of prostate problems. Saliva gives a more accurate result than blood serum. Hormone balance would be maintained through diet, exercise and natural supplements.
For early stage, slow-growing cancer, the creation of a healthy hormone balance and healthy body could be curative. This might mean supplementing natural testosterone at low levels or progesterone (its precursor) and would certainly involve detoxification, nutritional supplements, mind and spirit work, natural anti- inflammatories and immune system building. Androgen balance would be closely monitored and managed.
For aggressive or advanced cancer, maintaining testosterone levels in a normal-high range is also shown to cause cells to shrink - and helps keep men potent, healthy and happy. A possible future strategy is to debulk the tumour, using ProstaSol, and then quickly raise androgen levels to the 'above normal' range, maintaining that level through a combination of vigorous exercise, low-fat protein and possible natural supplements of testosterone and other hormones. Scientist G.A.(Sammy) Bates has kept himself healthy for 10 years this way, in defiance of medical predictions. See below for his compelling downloadable book and check out his discussion group.
An appeal for data
There is an urgent need for attention to be paid to work done since 1941 and for further research to be conducted on its findings. We are starting to gather data on androgen management. For instance, we believe that Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Centre, New York is already debulking advanced tumours (using chemo and/or radiotherapy) immediately on diagnosis and then advising vigorous exercise, which would presumably raise testosterone and maintain androgen balance.
